In this post-pandemic era, ‘Spiderman-No Way Home’ has broken through the box office records. High expectations were riding on this new Marvel installation that promises fan a thrilling ride after the cliffhanger from ‘Far From Home.’
Marvel has dedicated fans who like to avoid spoilers at all costs and tend to watch every Marvel film the day of opening or in the upcoming weekend. No Way Home fulfilled all these expectations by scoring a whopping $18.2M in India, the second-highest opening weekend for a Hollywood movie in the market.
The movie follows after Mysterio’s declaration that Spiderman is Peter Parker (Tom Holland). It’s an adventurous ride of how Peter tries to correct the situation with the help of Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) but ends up inviting more villainous creatures into the city from multiple universes.
Peter Parker, along with his best friends, Michelle “MJ” Jones (Zendaya) and Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon), strives to confront these antagonists to save his city and be the ever-favorite ‘friendly neighborhood spiderman.’
Spiderman: No Way Home Box Office Indian Collection:
In India, Spiderman: No Way Home broke the records of Akshay Kumar’s Diwali release, Suryavanshi, which boxed an opening collection of Rs. 26.50 crores. Among all Hollywood and Bollywood movies released in 2021, including Marvel’s Black Widow and The Eternals, Marvel’s No Way Home had the biggest collection and crossed the 50 crore mark in just two days of release. Defeated only by Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame, No Way Home ranks second at the Indian box office.
Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey and Ranveer Singh’s ’83 carry expectations to defeat these highest-grossing Marvel movies.
Spiderman No Way Home Box Office Global Report:
Spiderman No Way Home had an applaud-worthy opening performance even in the global box office market. In the UK market, it gained the fourth-highest opening with $41.4M whereas, in the Mexican market, it gained first place with $32.4M, and in the Australian Market, it was the third-biggest opening with $18.75M.
Surprisingly in Korea, No Way Home managed to snag $23.7M, despite a curfew enforced on Saturday. Brazil, France & Russia saw similar openings with $17.9M, $17.8M, and $17.4M, respectively. Italy ($13M), Germany ($11.4M), and Spain ($10.4M) also noticed colossal box office opening collections.
No Way Home is yet to open in major markets like China, Japan, Thailand & Norway. There is no information about the release in China: however, in Thailand, it is scheduled to release on December 23, whereas Japan & Norway will see a release on January 7 & January 14, respectively.
Marvel’s Spiderman: No Way Home has earned quite a considerable opening collection in the post-pandemic time. In Indian and global markets, No Way Home has outdone itself and exceeded all expectations.
