The Midnight Club Release Date, Cast, Trailer, and More

Everyone loves good horror, be it in the form of a movie or a TV series. Horror has seen a resurgence in mainstream popularity since the release of James Wan’s almost-classic horror movie in 2013, The Conjuring, and ever since that; we’ve seen mainstream horror movies follow in the vein of The Conjuring, but never come close to what it delivered.

However, another prominent horror director is Mike Flanagan, who has been flying under the radar for the most part. However, in all honesty, it is on par with, sometimes even better than, James Wan in terms of quality.

Flanagan has directed some excellent, and sometimes brilliant, horror flicks Oculus, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Hush, and his biggest work, Doctor Sleep, the sequel to The Shining, one of the greatest horror movies of all time. He has also been a prolific series director, with some incredible works, such as The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, and now The Midnight Club.

Let us see what we know of the series so far:

The Midnight Club Release Date

Unfortunately, there is no set release date, despite filming being concluded in late 2021. Production took place from March to September 2021, and the series is now in post-production. However, Flanagan has usually released his works around Halloween, i.e., between the last week of October and the early weeks of November, so it is not a stretch to say that we will be seeing The Midnight Club on Netflix in October or November 2022.

The Midnight Club Cast

We will be seeing some Mike Flanagan regulars, i.e., actors who have previously worked with him on projects. However, the biggest casting for this series is arguably ‘80s horror scream queen Heather Langenkamp, who famously acted in the 1984 cult classic A Nightmare on Elm Street. Apart from her, here is the rest of the cast:

  • Iman Benson
  • Adia
  • Igby Rigney
  • Ruth Codd
  • Aya Furukawa
  • Annarah Cymone
  • William Chris Sumpter
  • Sauriyan Sapkota

The Midnight Club Trailer

Production wrapped up in September of 2021, and it is honestly surprising that we haven’t received a trailer for the show yet. But, as mentioned above, Flanagan likes releasing his works around the time of Halloween. So it is expected to see a trailer by August or September of this year. The trailer will most certainly have something that hooks us on to it and gets us talking about it until we watch the series for ourselves.

The Midnight Club Storyline

The series is based on the eponymous novel published in 1994 by Christopher Pike. Although it is an adaptation of the novel, it is reported that the series will incorporate elements from other works by the author. The series will be a horror series centering on a group of young adults who are patients at a mental care center.

The patients have this practice of gathering at midnight to tell each other scary stories and make a pact that when the first one dies, that person will be reaching out from the afterlife to them. And when one of them inevitably dies, mysterious events begin to occur. Seeing how it is a Netflix show, we can also expect ten episodes.

Mike Flanagan will be directing the pilot episode, but multiple directors will help the rest. By the sound of it, this feels like something true horror fans would love to see and cherish for a long time. Being a Mike Flanagan admirer, I honestly cannot wait to see what he brings this time around.

The Midnight Club Premiere Date

As mentioned previously, we can expect it to release sometime during late October/early November of 2022 due to Mike Flanagan’s habit of releasing his work around the time of Halloween.

The Conclusion

The bottom line is, The Midnight Club will bring something to the table that will be enjoyed and appreciated by almost everyone who watches it. We cannot wait to see it when it finally launches on Netflix.
